I don't smoke joints. It's just not my thing, and frankly, it never has been. I prefer my pretty gold Pax or my @bloomfarms pens any day.
I just came across this article in the Chicago Tribune that broke cannabis consumers into segments on a pie chart. From "infrequent conservatives" to "functional dependents" there is a category for all of my favorite cannabis lovers out there!
I fell into the "Modern lifestyle" category myself. It is said to be "the cannabis industry's ideal vision of the future". Here is a lovely segment of the article...
'Traditional lifestylers'
Young, diverse and single. They consume cannabis daily, and despite having low income, are big spenders. They often live in states with illicit markets, so they smoke joints and blunts.
'Modern lifestylers'
"The cannabis industry's ideal vision of the future." Young with high-paying jobs, they buy their weed from stores and consume the widest variety of products.
'Functional dependents'
"Heavy-consuming, high-spending, hard-partying cannabis evangelists." They consume throughout the day, typically alone, and spend more than $100 a month on cannabis. They may use it to enhance work, fitness and meditation. They like a wide range of products, including highly concentrated dabs and edibles.
'Medical purists'
Use for health reasons, especially pain relief, and prefer edibles, pills and topicals.
'Weekend enthusiasts'
Primarily parents, often in their 40s, consume fairly often to decompress and enjoy their free time.
'Discreet unwinders'
Often older mothers of adult children who've been using cannabis for years but don't want people to know it. They prefer smoking the old-fashioned way, with joints or pipes.
'Infrequent conservatives'
Older consumers, married, often retired, and fairly politically conservative, who use pot to relax a few times a year or less.
'Silver dabblers'
Middle-aged men who often live alone, with low income, and smoke a couple of times a month.
'Social opportunists'
The largest consumer group, who use a few times a year or less, usually with others, when someone passes a joint around. "Notably, many do not pitch in to cover the cost ... but they also have a taste for solid edibles ... so long as someone else brings them to the party."
What kind of cannabis consumer are you?⠀
