Shopping for Cannabis in 2023: The Update

I have been sharing my cannabis journey for many years now. From learning the basics to sexy Sunday, things have evolved. Walking into a dispensary in 2012, I would say " I am looking for a sativa that is not too potent" and would be shown a handful of great options. It was truly just a starting point to help the bud tender understand what feeling I was looking for. Fast forward to 2023. More science. Greater understanding. And as it turns out, most everything is a hybrid.

I have been sharing my cannabis journey for many years now. From learning the basics to sexy Sunday, things have evolved. Walking into a dispensary in 2012, I would say " I am looking for a sativa that is not too potent" and would be shown a handful of great options. It was truly just a starting point to help the bud tender understand what feeling I was looking for. Fast forward to 2023. More science. Greater understanding. And as it turns out, most everything is a hybrid.

So where do we go from here? How do we shop for cannabis in 2023? I prefer to buy products that describe a feeling I am looking for or better yet, a problem I am trying to solve with cannabis. Example: a light blue bottle of edibles that just says "SLEEP" or "FOCUS" shortens the journey of the overwhelming experience of shopping for cannabis. I know the edible is for sleep. Done. Maybe I am being lazy, but so far, this method of shopping for cannabis has proven to be effective.

Here's the update and how to shop for cannabis in 2023.

Ask your girlfriend. Women share information. From wellness hacks to the latest and calorically greatest recipes from Half Baked Harvest (we love you,Tieghan...just saying) or the best new nail polish colors for fall 2023, we share. There's nothing better than waking up to a few shared recipes I'll probably never make and a new denim brand, right in my dm's. Translation: my girlfriends were thinking of me while scrolling and sending me the things they thought would help me in life. This is how women are learning about cannabis, too.
Read a book, listen to a podcast. 70% of women shy they lack a clear understanding of the science behind cannabis. From How To Do The Pot to my cannabis library, I am always referencing physical books.
Find a reputable dispensary. Preferable one that focuses on women, because well, we have different needs and need different dosing recommendations than the boys. Although CBD and CBN can be purchased at your local gas station, refrain from the convenience and take yourself down the street to meet with your local budtender (this word never gets old for me, lol!).I don't need a Reagea vibe when shopping, EVER. I prefer pretty dispensaries because they make me feel calm. In San Francisco I visit The Apothecarium and Mary Modern.
Do your research. A simple Google search will shorten your journey on brands and specifically, products to try. Did I mention this is trial and error? Sometimes it's a swing and a miss with new products. Other times I am just having an off night or am on my period. A product I am trying the day before my period might actually be right for me when my body regulates again after my period. #science Translation: try a product more than once to see if it is a for for you. If the same hybrid makes you fall asleep when you are planning a big night of escapades, perhaps it's time to try something different.
